The total amount of funds of individuals and entrepreneurs in Ukrainian banks continues to grow. As of October 1, 2026, it reached UAH 1.7796 trillion, having increased by UAH 19.4 billion in September. Moreover, the bulk of this growth was provided by funds in hryvnia.
This is evidenced by data from the Deposit Guarantee Fund, published on October 26. Since the beginning of 2026, the total amount of Ukrainians' funds in banks has increased by almost UAH 162 billion.
In September, hryvnia funds grew much faster than foreign currency funds. The volume of deposits in the national currency increased by UAH 14.5 billion to UAH 1,172.4 billion. Deposits in foreign currency, converted into hryvnia equivalent, grew by UAH 4.9 billion to UAH 607.2 billion.
Thus, almost 75% of the monthly growth came from hryvnia funds. This is a significant change compared to August, when the situation was reversed: foreign currency deposits increased by UAH 6.7 billion, while hryvnia deposits grew by only UAH 2.9 billion.
Overall, hryvnia maintains its advantage in the structure of Ukrainians' bank savings. Funds in the national currency account for about 66% of the total amount, while foreign currency accounts for approximately 34%.
At the same time, most Ukrainians keep their money not in time deposits but in demand accounts, from which they can withdraw without waiting for a fixed term. According to the Fund, funds on demand account for 71.2% of the total deposits, while time deposits account for 28.8%.
Among time deposits, the largest share is deposits with a maturity of up to three months – 17.34% of all funds. Deposits from three to six months account for 6.97%, from six months to a year – 3.8%, and deposits over one year – only 0.69%.
Individual entrepreneurs form a separate part of bank funds. As of October 1, they held UAH 207.4 billion in banks, or 11.7% of the total deposits. At the same time, the share of individual entrepreneurs among all depositors was only 3.2%.
The Fund reminds that during martial law and for three months after its termination or cancellation, deposits of individuals, including individual entrepreneurs, are covered by a full reimbursement guarantee within the limits established by law. After this period ends, the maximum guaranteed amount will be UAH 600,000 per depositor in one bank.
As of the beginning of October, 59 banks remained participants in the Deposit Guarantee Fund.
Earlier, "Kurs Ukrainy" reported that as of September 1, Ukrainians held UAH 1.76 trillion in banks. At that time, the main growth of savings was provided by foreign currency funds.
