The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has substantially eased the pretrial restriction for the leader of the parliamentary faction “Batkivshchyna,” Yulia Tymoshenko. The bail amount in the case of alleged bribery of people’s deputies was reduced from UAH 33.28 million to UAH 266.24 thousand.

The corresponding ruling was adopted by the court on October 26 during a preparatory hearing in Tymoshenko’s case. This became known from a broadcast of the court session. The decision was also confirmed by a correspondent of Ukrinform, who was present in the courtroom.

The court granted the defense’s motion and reduced the bail by approximately 125 times. Thus, more than UAH 33 million, paid for the politician in January, are to be returned to the bail posters after deducting the new bail amount.

According to LB.ua, the initial bail amount was posted on January 23 by nine individuals. Two of them waived the return of their funds, which will now be offset against the new bail. The remaining amount must be returned to the people who transferred the funds.

Tymoshenko herself requested to reduce the bail to 80 subsistence minimums for able-bodied persons, or UAH 266,240. Her lawyers argued that over the past months the circumstances of the criminal proceedings have changed significantly, and the risks on which the original court ruling was based have diminished.

During the hearing, Tymoshenko stated that in more than eight months of the proceedings she had not violated any procedural obligation imposed on her and had not attempted to evade participation in court sessions.

According to hromadske, the defense also pointed out that the deputy had repeatedly traveled abroad on official business trips and each time returned to Ukraine.

The prosecutor opposed the bail reduction. In particular, the prosecution drew attention to Tymoshenko’s financial situation, noting that according to her declaration, one of her bank accounts holds UAH 46 million.

Despite the prosecutor’s objections, the court upheld the defense’s request for bail reduction. Judge Oleh Tkachenko announced that the newly adopted ruling is not subject to appeal.

At the same time, the reduction of the bail amount does not mean the termination of the criminal proceedings or the dismissal of charges against Tymoshenko. The trial continues. The next court session is scheduled for October 29 at 10:00 a.m.

As a reminder, in January 2026 the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office notified Tymoshenko of suspicion of offering undue advantage to people’s deputies.

According to investigators, the leader of “Batkivshchyna” allegedly tried to organize a system of rewards for parliamentarians for voting in certain ways when considering bills and personnel decisions of the Verkhovna Rada. The politician’s actions were qualified under part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

On January 16, the HACC set Tymoshenko’s bail at UAH 33.28 million. At that time, the prosecution insisted on UAH 50 million, but the court only partially granted the prosecution’s request.

In April, NABU and SAPO completed the pre-trial investigation, and on May 26 the indictment was sent to the High Anti-Corruption Court. In July, the court refused to extend the procedural obligations previously imposed on Tymoshenko.

The politician categorically rejects the accusations. She has repeatedly stated that the criminal case is politically motivated, and that the audio recordings published by NABU are allegedly falsified. During the hearing on October 26, Tymoshenko again insisted on the unreliability of these recordings and cited expert examinations that, she asserted, confirm editing.

The reliability of the evidence and the guilt of the accused must be determined by the court during the criminal proceedings.
