In Ukraine, war veterans and family members of deceased defenders can now obtain an extract from the Unified State Register of War Veterans through the "Diia" portal. The electronic document confirms the relevant status and can be used to apply for state benefits, social guarantees, and payments.

The Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine reported this on October 26. The "Diia" portal also published information about the launch of the service.

The service is free, and no documents are required to submit a request. According to the portal, filling out the application takes about one minute, and request processing takes approximately five minutes.

Citizens whose information is already entered in the Unified State Register of War Veterans can receive an extract. The service is available to the following categories:

  • combatants;
  • war participants;
  • persons with disabilities as a result of war;
  • family members of deceased or dead war veterans;
  • family members of deceased or dead defenders of Ukraine;
  • affected participants of the Revolution of Dignity;
  • persons with special merits to the Motherland.

If a person's information is not in the Unified State Register of War Veterans, it will not be possible to generate an extract through the portal.

To obtain the document, you need to:

  1. Log in to the "Diia" portal.
  2. Open the "Veteran PRO" section and select the service "Extract from the Register of Veterans".
  3. Check the automatically filled personal data.
  4. Confirm the application and send the request.
  5. After processing, download the ready extract in the personal cabinet or receive it by e-mail.

The document is generated in PDF format and contains a unique number, a QR code for authenticity verification, and a qualified electronic signature of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs.

The ministry notes that the electronic extract allows confirming status in state institutions without the need to obtain a separate paper certificate. At the same time, the document confirms the existing status, and does not grant it automatically.

In addition, the ability to obtain extracts through administrative service centers (TsNAPs) has been expanded. Now veterans' children, including those under 23, or their legal representatives can also use the service.

For this category of citizens, the extract is needed, in particular, when applying for state targeted support for education.

The document can still be obtained directly at a TsNAP. Thus, citizens can choose a convenient way to apply — online through the "Diia" portal or in person through an administrative service center.
