On the evening of October 26, residents of Kyiv began receiving erroneous air raid alerts en masse. Mobile applications repeatedly warned of a drone attack threat, although some of the messages did not correspond to the actual situation.

The cause was a technical malfunction in the territorial automated centralized warning system (TASCW). This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.

According to the KCSA, the malfunction led to repeated sending of air raid alerts to users of mobile applications.

As reported by "Glavcom", at around 18:47 the "Kyiv Digital" app began sending out warnings about a massive drone attack. Within a few minutes, users received at least seven notifications.

At the same time, messages about a new threat alternated with notifications about the all-clear. Some warnings arrived almost every minute — in particular, at 18:48, 18:49, 18:50 and 18:51.

Subsequently, city authorities confirmed the technical malfunction and reported that the problem had been resolved.

"A technical malfunction occurred in the operation of the territorial automated centralized warning system, due to which users of mobile applications received air raid alerts several times in a row," the KCSA explained.

The administration assured that the system's operation has been restored. At the time of the official announcement, there was no air raid alert in Kyiv.

City authorities apologized to the capital's residents for the inconvenience. The causes of the technical malfunction and the need for additional system checks have not yet been reported.
