How does the USDb rate differ from the USD rate?

Exchange offices quote the USD rate for US dollars whatever the design of the notes. USDb is a separate rate some exchange offices set for 100-dollar notes of the new design, issued since 2013. The gap between the two depends on the exchange office and can change during the day.

Can old-design dollars be exchanged?

Yes. The NBU stresses that all genuine US dollar notes are legal tender whatever the year of issue. An exchange office that refuses a genuine note in satisfactory condition, or asks for a discount because of its design, breaks the rules, and the NBU can fine it or revoke its licence.

How often is the USDb rate updated?

The rates come from exchange offices and are updated throughout the day. The table shows when each office last updated its rate. Check the rate with the exchange office before you exchange.
