Assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have had personnel replenishment suspended - UP (Updated)

Assault regiments of the Ukrainian Land Forces have received orders to temporarily suspend replenishment of personnel. The restriction has been in effect since 00:00 on July 26.

The decision was made by the newly appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapaty, reports "Ukrainska Pravda" citing sources in four assault regiments.

According to the publication's sources, the transfer of servicemen from reserve battalions and territorial recruitment centers has been suspended for these units. Transfers of soldiers from other military units to assault regiments have also been temporarily halted.

One source said that the only remaining possibility for return to service is via the "Armiya+" app for servicemen who left their units without permission before June 12.

No official announcement has been made by the General Staff or the Land Forces Command regarding this order.

What is known about the staffing of assault regiments

As Ukrainska Pravda notes, this is the first decision by senior military command that restricts assault regiments in replenishing personnel.

Previously, the 225th Separate Assault Regiment and the 425th Separate Assault Regiment "Skala" allegedly had priority for constant replenishment and expansion. According to the publication's sources, the strength of "Skala" has grown to over 10,000 servicemen, while the standard strength of a regiment is usually about 3,000 to 4,000 personnel.

Other assault units, including the 1st and 475th Separate Assault Regiments, reportedly did not have similar staffing opportunities, according to UP's sources.

Assault units fear that the halt in replenishment may be part of a further reorganization. However, there is no confirmed information about the possible dissolution of the regiments.

On July 29, the General Staff announced the start of an inspection of military unit staffing and the fairness of personnel distribution. It was stated that the goals are to assess the actual manning levels of brigades, regiments, and corps, as well as to look for ways to improve personnel support.
