In Gdynia, an unknown man brutally attacked a Ukrainian woman with a stick; the police are searching for the attacker.

In Gdynia, Poland, an unknown man attacked a 40-year-old Ukrainian citizen, striking her twice in the back of the head with a wooden stick – the police are searching for the attacker but do not currently see signs of a hate crime based on nationality, according to Європейська правда.

The incident occurred on July 30 at around 3:30 PM on a staircase on Żelazna Street in Gdynia. The portal trojmiasto.pl published a video filmed after the attack.

In it, the victim says she did not see the attacker because he attacked her from behind, and the object she was hit with was "very hard." In the video, the woman is sitting on the ground covered in blood.

According to local police spokesperson Marek Kobiałko, preliminary data indicates that an unknown man struck the 40-year-old Ukrainian woman twice in the back of the head with a wooden stick and then fled.

Police officers inspected the scene with the participation of forensics experts, collected trace evidence, and documented the circumstances of the attack.

The victim was taken to the Gdynia city hospital, where she received medical assistance. After an examination, the woman was discharged; her life is not in danger.

Law enforcement officers are analyzing the collected evidence and checking all the circumstances of the incident. According to them, there is currently no reason to believe that the attack was motivated by national hatred. At the same time, information is spreading on social media that the woman was talking on the phone in Ukrainian before the attacker assaulted her.

In Wrocław, a group of Polish men recently attacked a young Ukrainian couple, allegedly after hearing their accent. The attackers were taken into custody for three months.

On a train near Warsaw, two men harassed a Ukrainian man. After the intervention of the conductor and other passengers, the offenders were kicked out of the car, and the police subsequently fined them.

Amid these events, the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized, that such actions will face an appropriate response from law enforcement agencies, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk appealed to President Nawrocki urging him to "break the silence."
