An air raid alert was declared in the border area of Romania for the second time in a day, as an aerial target was detected near the border with Ukraine, according to Європейська правда.

This was reported by the Romanian Ministry of Defense on Sunday, writes European Pravda.

According to the report, the radar surveillance system of the Romanian Ministry of Defense detected an aerial target near the river border with Ukraine on August 2 at 3:09 PM.

Two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force took off at 3:17 PM to monitor the situation.

The National Military Command Center informed the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations regarding the establishment of measures to alert the population in Tulcea County, which sent a RO-Alert message.

Earlier on Sunday, the population of Romania was notified of an air threat due to a target detected around 9:30 AM.

On the evening of July 30, Romania scrambled two F-16 fighter jets after detecting aerial targets near the border with Ukraine; the local population received a notification about the threat of an air attack.

Until recently, Romania did not shoot down drones that violated its airspace amid Russian attacks on Ukraine, but this changed at the end of July.
