In Spain, the number of Ukrainians with residence permits has increased

The number of Ukrainian citizens with valid residence or stay documents in Spain has exceeded 353 thousand. As of June 30, 2026, Spanish registers recorded 353,009 Ukrainians with the relevant status.

Over the year, their number increased by 8.2%, or approximately 26.8 thousand people. Compared to the end of March 2026, the figure rose by more than 7 thousand people, and since the beginning of the year - by 14.4 thousand.

The statistics include Ukrainian citizens who have a residence permit under the temporary protection program or on other grounds. Ukrainians with valid stay permits in Spain for study purposes are also taken into account.

In the previous detailed report as of March 31, the largest group was temporary protection beneficiaries - over 256 thousand people, or 74% of all Ukrainians with residence documents. Another approximately 68 thousand had a long-term residence permit.

The largest number of Ukrainians lived in the provinces of Alicante, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and Malaga. These five provinces accounted for the majority of Ukrainian citizens with valid documents.

The Spanish authorities emphasize that having a valid document does not always mean that the person is actually staying in the country. A citizen may have left Spain before the expiration of the permit, but continue to be registered in the registry.

The statistics are compiled based on the Central Register of Foreigners and data from the Spanish social security system. Information on Ukrainians is updated monthly, and expanded reports are published quarterly.
