Ukraine's electricity export exceeds import for the first time in 10 months

In July 2026, Ukraine exported more electricity than it imported for the first time in ten months. Exports rose by 48% during the month, while imports fell by 40%. This is shown by data from the ExPro Electricity monitoring.

At the end of July, Ukraine exported 232.5 thousand MWh of electricity. This is 48% more than in June, when supply abroad amounted to 151.5 thousand MWh.

Meanwhile, electricity imports fell to 175 thousand MWh — 40% less than the previous month. Thus, exports exceeded imports by 57.5 thousand MWh.

The last time Ukraine exported more electricity than it purchased from abroad was in September 2025.

Exports to Slovakia increased almost sixfold

In July, the largest increase in electricity supply was to Slovakia — almost six times compared to June.

In addition, Ukraine resumed electricity exports to Poland for the first time since November 2025.

Hungary remained the main direction, accounting for 48% of total exports. However, compared to July 2025, Ukrainian electricity supply abroad decreased by almost 18%.

Imports decreased in all directions

In July, electricity import volumes fell in all directions. Ukraine received the most electricity via the Hungarian border — it accounted for 40% of all purchases.

Compared to July last year, electricity imports fell by 32%.
