Gasoline and diesel shipments from Belarus to Russia hit a record

Belarus increased railroad shipments of gasoline and diesel fuel to Russia once again in July, setting a new monthly record.

This was reported by Reuters citing industry sources and its own calculations.

The July volumes exceeded the previous high set in June. Back then, Belarusian refineries sent over 181,000 tonnes of gasoline to Russia – three times more than in May. Diesel supplies increased by a factor of one and a half and exceeded 77,000 tonnes.

Russia is ramping up oil product imports amid a fuel shortage triggered by a series of Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries. The damage and shutdown of individual facilities led to lower output, rising wholesale prices, and restrictions on fuel sales in some regions.

In the first half of 2026, railroad deliveries of Belarusian gasoline to Russia surged roughly 20 times compared to the same period last year, reaching more than 453,000 tonnes. Exports of diesel fuel rose almost fivefold to 256,000 tonnes.

Belarus supplies oil products from two refineries with a combined nominal capacity of around 24 million tonnes per year. The plants primarily process Russian crude oil, but a share of the produced fuel is now returning to Russia to cover the domestic deficit.

Apart from Belarus, Moscow has started buying gasoline from India and Kazakhstan. Russian authorities also restricted exports of gasoline and diesel fuel in order to redirect additional volumes to the domestic market.
