The cash dollar began to rise after several days of decline
For Thursday, August 6, the National Bank set the following official exchange rates: – US dollar – UAH 44.6895 (–0.0593 UAH from the official rate for Wednesday, August 5); – euro – UAH 51.6253 (+0.0881 UAH from the official rate for Wednesday, August 5).
The rates were set at 16:00 on August 5 and reflect the following trends:
1. Immediately after the start of trading on the interbank foreign exchange market, quotations went up and by 12 noon rose from 44.64 to 44.73 UAH on the bid. The average deal price at 12:00 was 44.6760 UAH – 14 kopiyok lower than on Tuesday. Around 12:30, the National Bank left the market, which prompted a continued rise in cashless dollar quotations, which by 13:20 reached 44.76 UAH on the bid. After the NBU reappeared with an intervention, quotations went down and dropped to 44.635 UAH on the bid. However, trading closed at the level of 44.70 UAH. The average price rose a little more, but still ended up lower than on Tuesday. Therefore, the National Bank lowered the official dollar exchange rate for Thursday, August 6 by almost 6 kopiyok.
2. The euro on the international FOREX market on Wednesday rose to the level of 1.1557 dollars. At the time of fixing, the euro was selling at 1.1552 – 35 points higher than on Tuesday (1.1517 dollars). Therefore, even though the official dollar rate for Thursday decreased, the National Bank increased the official euro rate by almost 9 kopiyok.
The cash dollar exchange rate, after several days of decline, today rose in places, reacting to movements on the interbank foreign exchange market. While on Tuesday evening in the capital the dollar was sold at 44.67 UAH, today its price rose to 44.69–44.70 UAH. In Lviv, the dollar dropped by another 3 kopiyok, but in all other cities it rose: in Dnipro by 3 kopiyok, in Odesa by 5, and in Kharkiv by 6 kopiyok. This is partly connected with the fact that as autumn approaches, there are more and more people willing to convert their hryvnia into 'hard' currency. And even the slightest rise on the interbank market merely encourages them to implement this decision.
