Zelensky and Rutte Discuss Missile Supplies for Ukraine’s Air Defense

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky discussed with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte the supply of interceptor missiles to protect Ukrainian cities from Russian strikes. The conversation took place on August 5.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine is working as actively as possible with all partners who can provide the necessary air defense capabilities. The President informed the NATO Secretary General about the current situation and the consequences of Russian attacks on civilian facilities.

Zelensky and Rutte agreed on further work with countries that have the missiles Ukraine needs and are capable of transferring them. The President did not specify which countries are involved in the discussion.

The Head of State called on partners to eliminate bureaucratic obstacles and make the political decisions necessary for deliveries more quickly. According to him, the protection of lives in Ukraine daily depends on the resolve of European and American countries.

Rutte expressed readiness to seek opportunities to provide Ukraine with the necessary interceptor missiles. The parties agreed to continue coordination.
