SBU reveals details of strike on Yaroslavl refinery and more

Ukrainian drones attacked the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in Russian Yaroslavl and two FSB coast guard ships in the port of temporarily occupied Kerch.

This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.

The SBU carried out the operation jointly with other units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The Yaroslavl refinery is located more than 700 kilometers from Ukraine’s state border.

According to the special service, at least six explosions occurred on the facility’s premises, after which fires broke out in four areas of the plant.

Preliminary information indicates that four RVS-2000 crude oil tanks were damaged. The strikes caused an oil product spill, and two tanks caught fire.

The SBU also stated that the ELOU-1 and AVT-3 units used in the initial stages of oil refining were damaged. Fires also broke out at these facilities. The final consequences of the attack are being clarified.

“Slavneft-YANOS” is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries. Its design capacity is about 15 million tons of oil per year. The plant produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, and other petroleum products.

At the same time, drones attacked the port area in Kerch. According to preliminary SBU information, two Project 10410 “Svetlyak” patrol boats — “Balaklava” and “Kerch” — belonging to the FSB coast guard of Russia were damaged.

The special service stated that the strikes are aimed at reducing Russia’s military-economic potential. No independent assessment of the extent of damage to the plant and ships is provided in the report.
