Forecasters warned of a sharp weather deterioration in Kyiv
In Kyiv and Kyiv region on Friday, August 7, a sharp worsening of the weather is expected. Forecasters predict thunderstorms, in some areas hail and squalls with speeds of 15–20 m/s.
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center issued a first-level, yellow alert. The warning is also in effect for western and other northern regions, Vinnytsia and Cherkasy oblasts.
In Kyiv, the temperature at night will be 23–25 degrees, during the daytime the air will warm up to about 35 degrees. In Kyiv region at night it will be 20–25 degrees, during the day — extreme heat up to 35–38 degrees.
No significant precipitation is expected in the capital at night. During the day a brief rain with thunderstorms is expected, hail and squally winds are possible. In the region, significant rains are expected in places.
Bad weather can complicate traffic and the operations of energy, construction and municipal enterprises. During a thunderstorm, avoid advertising structures, power lines and large trees, and do not park cars near them.
On Saturday, August 8, thunderstorm rains will spread to most of Ukraine. In northern and most central regions, the heat will begin to subside. On August 9, precipitation will mostly cease, and daytime temperatures will drop to 24–29 degrees.
