Dollar rises for second consecutive day: NBU exchange rate for Friday
For Friday, August 7, the National Bank set the following official exchange rates: - US dollar – 44.7626 UAH (+0.0731 UAH to the official rate for Thursday, August 6); - euro – 51.6717 UAH (+0.0464 UAH to the official rate for Thursday, August 6).
The rates were set at 16:00 on August 6 and reflect the following trends:
1. Today the situation repeated that of yesterday: immediately after trading began on the interbank foreign exchange market, quotations moved up and by 12:20 rose from 44.635 to 44.807 UAH on the bid side. The average transaction price at 12:00 was 44.7491 UAH – 7 kopecks higher than on Wednesday. The National Bank entered the market with interventions only after 14:00. The average price rose a little more. Therefore, the National Bank raised the official dollar rate for Friday, August 7 by 7.3 kopecks.
2. On the international FOREX market on Thursday, the euro corrected from 1.1560 to 1.1533 dollars. At the time of fixing, the euro sold for 1.15435 – 8.5 points lower than on Wednesday (1.1552 dollars). But since the NBU raised the official dollar rate for Friday, the official euro rate was also raised by 4.6 kopecks.
On the cash market today, there was no unified trend. In some cities (for instance, Dnipro and Lviv) the dollar rose in price by a few kopecks, in others (Odesa and Kyiv) it fell by a couple of kopecks. If on Wednesday evening in the capital the dollar was sold at 44.69-44.70 UAH, then by tonight its price dropped to 44.68 UAH. In contrast to the interbank foreign exchange market, where a strong supply-demand imbalance is felt, the cash market today appears more balanced and less chaotic. It seems that most of those who wanted to convert their savings into hryvnia have either already done so, or are waiting for a more suitable moment.
