Government changes rules for distributing electricity between regions
The Government of Ukraine has changed the procedure for forming lists of critically important facilities to improve electricity distribution efficiency.
Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal reported this.
Now the lists of such facilities will be compiled separately for winter and summer periods. When forming them, authorities must take into account seasonal specifics of the power system's operation and the maximum level of electricity capacity consumption.
The Ministry of Energy expects the new approach will allow more accurate planning of available electricity distribution and increase the volume for household consumers.
The decision is also intended to ensure a more even distribution of electricity between regions and enhance the operational stability of Ukraine's unified power system.
Separate seasonal lists will make it possible to take into account changes in load throughout the year. In winter, consumption increases due to heating and lighting, whereas in summer, the power system is more heavily influenced by the operation of air conditioners and other cooling equipment.
The deadlines for forming the updated lists and the volume of electricity that is planned to be additionally allocated to household consumers are not specified in the report.
