Ukrainian Railways urges passengers to leave stations during air alert

Ukrainian Railways urges passengers not to stay at stations, platforms, and other railway facilities during air alerts. The company explains this is due to the systematic threat of russian missile and air strikes.

After an alert signal, passengers are advised to immediately leave the station or platform and proceed to the nearest shelter. If there is no equipped shelter nearby, one should move to a safe distance from the railway track and use concrete structures or terrain features.

Passengers are also asked to stay away from rolling stock, glass facades of stations, information boards, and high-voltage power lines. On open ground, gathering of crowds should be avoided.

If an air alert or imminent threat catches passengers on a train during an unscheduled stop, they must follow the instructions of railway staff. If evacuation is announced, one should in an organized manner leave the carriage and go to a safe place away from tracks and overhead lines.

Ukrainian Railways notes that during mass attacks train service in potentially dangerous regions may be temporarily suspended for safety reasons. As of the evening of August 11, a number of trains were running late, partly due to combat activity.

Special emphasis is placed by the company on stopping points where there may be no railway employees, warning systems, or proper shelters. Passengers are recommended to track train schedules remotely and not wait for transport on platforms during alerts.
