Ukraine has submitted proposals to the United States on further steps to reinforce pressure on Russia and bring closer the end of the war. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in his evening video address on August 11.

The Head of State stated that the Ukrainian side expects to continue working together with the United States and other partners to create conditions for Moscow in which the persistence of the war will become increasingly difficult for it. Zelenskyy did not reveal in his address the details of the proposals submitted to Washington.

The President linked the need for additional pressure with the lack of signs that Russia is willing to end the war. In the same address, Zelenskyy said that according to Ukrainian intelligence, Moscow is preparing a new mobilized effort after the elections of the State Duma and is supposedly to quickly enroll hundreds of thousands into its ranks.

Earlier Zelenska stated repeatedly that America's decisiveness is crucial for the diplomatic effort to end the war. During a call on July 4 with US President Donald Trump, they discussed the front‑line situation and further diplomatic steps.

In June, the Ukrainian President also stated that Kyiv has proposals capable to drive forward the peace efforts, and the American side further participates in conversations regarding possible paths to bring towards an end the war.

Applying for Kyiv, diplomacy should be combined with stronger economic, sanctions, and military pressure on Russia. Zelenskyy previously stated that the US President favors a sharp turn pushing onto Moscow to force it toward an end to the war.
