After RF attack DTEK halts gas production at a facility in Poltava Oblast

On 11 August, Russian troops again attacked the energy infrastructure of DTEK Naftogaz. As a result of the strike, the company was forced to halt operations at one of its gas production facilities in Poltava Oblast.

This was reported by the DTEK press service.

The company did not specify the nature of the damage and did not give any possible timelines for restoring the facility’s operation. The report also contains no information about casualties. The shutdown of the gas production facility is confirmed by a company statement included in the current news feed.

“Today the enemy once again attacked the energy infrastructure of DTEK Naftogaz. As a result of the attack, operations at a gas production facility in Poltava region have been halted,” the company’s statement says.

Ukraine’s gas production infrastructure is regularly targeted by Russian strikes. Previous attacks have already forced the shutdown of individual production facilities in Poltava Oblast. In particular, on 4 July, one of Naftogaz Group’s facilities stopped working after a Russian strike.

DTEK has also reported previous strikes on its gas production infrastructure in the region, after which the company had to temporarily suspend production operations.

The country’s own gas production remains an important part of supplying Ukraine with fuel, especially during the period of preparation for the heating season. However, DTEK has not yet reported to what extent the current shutdown of the facility will affect the company’s overall production volume.
