Defense Forces liberate 26 villages on the Oleksandrivske front
The Defense Forces of Ukraine have restored state control over 26 settlements in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions during an offensive operation on the Oleksandrivske front. The operation lasted from January to August 2026, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said after a report from the military leadership.
The Commander-in-Chief of the AFU Mykhailo Drapatyi, Chief of the General Staff Ihor Skybyuk, and Commander of the Air Assault Forces Oleh Apostol reported to the President on the results of the operation and the further actions of the Defense Forces.
According to official data, during the operation, the Ukrainian military restored control over 745 square kilometers of territory. The core of the forces involved in the offensive consisted of units of the Air Assault Forces interacting with other units of the Defense Forces.
26 settlements returned under Ukraine's control
The President's Office reported that the Ukrainian military liberated 26 villages in three regions. The settlements are Tolstoi, Novokhatske, Hrushevske, Zirka, Zelenyi Hai, Piddubne, Myrne, Tsehelne, Pryvillia, Zlahoda, Krasnohorske, Pryvilne, Novohryhorivka, Stepove, Kalynovske, Berezove, Novomykolaivka, Voskresenka, Oleksandrivhrad, Yalta, Rybne, Maliivka, Sechneve, Ternove, Novoheorhiivka, and Zaporizke.
According to the Air Assault Forces, in total, control was restored over 12 settlements in Dnipropetrovsk region, ten in Donetsk region, and four in Zaporizhzhia region.
The Ukrainian command defines the main objective of the operation as thwarting the plans of the Russian troops for further advance and pushing the units of the Russian Federation beyond the administrative border of Dnipropetrovsk region.
Ukraine has assessed Russian troop losses
According to the Ukrainian side, during the operation, the Russian troops lost at least 9,550 servicemen killed, and more than 6,600 were wounded. In addition, the Ukrainian units succeeded in capturing Russian servicemen, thus replenishing the exchange fund. The exact number of captives is not given in the presidential statement.
The Air Assault Forces declared that the result of the operation was ensured through the interaction of various components of the Defense Forces. At the same time, the military does not disclose operational details of current actions on the front.
The current data significantly expand the previously published information about the advance of Ukrainian troops on this sector of the front. In early March, the Air Assault Forces reported on nine liberated settlements on the Oleksandrivske front. At the end of May, new advances of the Defense Forces and the reestablishment of control over additional territories were also reported.
As of August 12, the Ukrainian military command states that the Defense Forces continue operations on the Oleksandrivske front. Other details of further operations are officially not disclosed.
