Head of Mykolaiv territorial recruitment center detained while receiving $10,000
Law enforcement officers detained the head of the Mykolaiv regional territorial center of recruitment and social support while receiving $10,000 in illegal benefit. This was announced on August 13 by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko.
According to the investigation, the official received money for not applying mobilization measures to three persons liable for military service. For $10,000 he allegedly was supposed to facilitate their removal from the wanted list in the "Oberig" system and create conditions for their further unimpeded reservation at their place of work.
Law enforcement officers are also investigating another episode within the same criminal proceedings. Earlier, as the investigation claims, the head of the territorial recruitment center received another $5,000. For this money he allegedly was supposed to prevent the sending of an already mobilized man to a military unit and ensure his return for re-passing the military medical commission.
Thus, the total amount of illegal benefit documented by law enforcement officers is $15,000.
The head of the regional territorial recruitment center was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Law enforcement officers are conducting searches at his place of service and residence, as well as other priority investigative actions.
A notice of suspicion of receiving illegal benefit is being prepared. The prosecutor's office intends to ask the court to impose a measure of restraint in the form of detention and to remove him from office.
According to "Ukrainska Pravda", the detained is Colonel Vitaliy Kulish. Officially, the head of the territorial recruitment center was not named in the message of the Prosecutor General.
The guilt of the detainee has not yet been established by the court. The stated circumstances are the version of the investigation and must be proven in the manner prescribed by law.
