In Prykarpattia, an officer of the Territorial Recruitment Center was detained after beating a soldier

In Ivano-Frankivsk region, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation detained a senior lieutenant of one of the district Territorial Recruitment Centers and Social Support, who is suspected of beating a subordinate serviceman. According to the investigation, at the time of the incident, the officer was intoxicated.

The incident occurred on the night of August 13. Around 05:00, a 45-year-old serviceman from Lviv was taken to the hospital. He reported that he was injured in the premises of one of the district territorial recruitment centers during a conflict with the deputy company commander.

According to investigators, the officer arrived at the Territorial Recruitment Center in the middle of the night while intoxicated and decided to "educate" the soldier, who was on duty at the time. The State Bureau of Investigation claims that the senior officer humiliated the subordinate, demonstrated his superiority, and used physical force against him.

The specialized prosecutor's office reported additional circumstances of the conflict: according to the investigation, the officer struck the serviceman in the face and in the area of the left clavicle. As a result, the victim was diagnosed with a closed rupture of the left acromioclavicular joint. He was hospitalized and sent for surgery.

The officer's intoxicated state, according to the investigation, was confirmed by witnesses and the results of the examination. The test showed 0.69 ppm of alcohol. In addition, the police issued an administrative report to the serviceman for driving while intoxicated.

Investigators questioned the victim, witnesses, and eyewitnesses, conducted investigative experiments, seized documents on the service of the participants in the incident, and obtained medical documentation on the soldier's injuries.

The officer was notified of suspicion under Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — exceeding authority or official powers by a military official, accompanied by violence, under martial law. The sanction of the article provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment. The pre-trial investigation continues.

The State Bureau of Investigation initially reported that it had petitioned the court to hold the suspect in custody. Later, the specialized prosecutor's office informed that the court had chosen detention with the possibility of bail.
