The NBU set new exchange rates for Monday: euro rose significantly

For Monday, August 17, the National Bank established the following official exchange rates: - US dollar – 44.7061 UAH (+0.0073 UAH compared to the official rate for Friday, August 14); - euro – 51.7080 UAH (+0.1537 UAH compared to the official rate for Friday, August 14).

Rates are set at 16:00 on August 14 and reflect the following trends:

1. Trading on the interbank market on Friday began with not a single transaction for the first 22 minutes. Buyers were waiting, sellers did not want to sell cheaply. Then quotes smoothly went up, and trading began. Until 14:00, transactions were in a narrow range of 44.72-44.75 UAH. The average transaction price at 12:00 was 44.7469 UAH - 4 kopecks higher than yesterday. Around 14:00, the National Bank entered the market and began actively satisfying buyers' requests, effectively pushing the rate down. Quotes began to decline and dropped to 44.631 UAH on the bid. The average transaction price decreased compared to 12:00, but was slightly higher than yesterday, so the NBU raised the official rate for Monday by 0.7 kopecks.

2. The euro on the international FOREX market rose today from 1.15241 to 1.15854 dollars amid published weak data on retail sales in the United States. At the time of fixing, the euro was sold at 1.15662 - 32.5 points higher than on Thursday ($1.15337). Therefore, the NBU increased the official euro rate by 15.4 kopecks.

On the cash market, minor fluctuations in price tags continue depending on the region: in Kyiv and Odesa, the dollar became cheaper by 1-2 kopecks per day, in Lviv it rose by 2, and in Kharkiv by 5 kopecks. In Dnipro, the price has not changed per day. It feels like the cash exchange rate has found a level that suits everyone. And without significant external irritants, with a relatively stable interbank, there is no particular reason for its sharp change.
