In Poland a woman was detained after an attack on citizens of Ukraine

In the Polish city of Poznań, police detained a woman who, together with her acquaintance, provoked a conflict over the Ukrainian language and attacked citizens of Ukraine.

On 14 August reported the Minister of the Interior and Administration of Poland, Marcin Kierwiński.

According to the head of the Ministry of the Interior, law enforcement officers established the identity of one of the participants in the incident and detained her. Kierwiński stressed that Polish services will respond to acts of aggression against Ukrainians. Details about the condition of the victims and possible charges against the detained woman have not yet been disclosed.

This is not the first such case in Poznań in 2026. In April, the prosecutor's office reported an attack on two Ukrainian women in the city center. At that time, a 35-year-old local resident was accused of insults based on nationality and the use of violence: she pulled one of the victims by the hair and tore out part of her hair, and violated the bodily integrity of the other. The investigation established that the reason for the attack was the nationality of the women.

In July, Poznań police also detained suspects after several incidents with foreigners. The Polish authorities have repeatedly stated that attacks and persecution of people on the basis of nationality will be investigated regardless of whether the victims themselves contact the police.
