Zelensky expects at least 30,000 occupiers to be destroyed in August

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said he expects the Defense Forces to destroy at least 30,000 Russian soldiers by the end of August.

The head of state said this in his address on August 14.

“I expect that in August there will be at least 30,000 occupiers destroyed,” Zelensky said, speaking about the situation on the front and the results of Ukrainian units.

The president did not specify whether this estimate refers solely to dead Russian servicemen or a broader loss figure. It is impossible to independently verify the losses of the sides under combat conditions, so the figure of 30,000 is the goal announced by the Ukrainian side for the current month.

On the same day, Zelensky heard a report from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapaty. According to the president, the military leadership has identified the necessary steps and resources to strengthen Ukrainian forces in the directions of Sloviansk and Kostiantynivka.

Separately, the use of drones and further development of the technological component of the Ukrainian army were discussed. Zelensky announced a conversation with the defense minister and noted that the military’s need for drones remains one of the priorities.

Another topic was army financing. According to the president, defense spending in the first half of the year was significantly higher, so now the state needs to find funds to cover the resulting deficit.

Zelensky also said that Ukraine continues its transition to a more technological model of defense. According to his assessment, decisions made since last fall in the areas of financing, technology, and defense organization allowed winter and spring to significantly expand the use of new means on the battlefield.

The president separately noted the continuation of Ukrainian strikes against Russian military logistics facilities and oil infrastructure. Kyiv regards such actions as a way to limit Russia's resources for waging war. In addition, Ukraine is preparing new sanctions packages against the Russian military-industrial complex, financial chains, and intermediaries.

Earlier, Zelensky said that the Russian army's monthly losses already exceed 30,000 killed and wounded. The Ukrainian leadership attributes the increase in Russian losses, in particular, to the wider use of unmanned systems and other technological solutions on the front.
