CEO Club Ukraine director released in Poland after warrant withdrawn

Germany has withdrawn the European arrest warrant for Dmitry Karchuk, director of the business community CEO Club Ukraine, who was previously detained in Poland in a case involving the alleged theft of electric bicycles. After this, the Polish court released the Ukrainian.

This was reported on August 14 by Sergey Gaidachuk, founder and president of CEO Club Ukraine.

According to him, the decision to release was made by a Polish judge after the German side withdrew the European Arrest Warrant. Thus, the question of transferring Karchuk to Germany, which was being considered after his detention, was lifted.

Karchuk was detained in early August while crossing the Polish border. It later emerged that the European warrant had been issued by German law enforcement agencies. While the matter of possible transfer to Germany was being considered, the Polish court ordered the Ukrainian to be held in custody.

The German investigation linked Karchuk to an incident that occurred in September 2024. According to investigators, the man allegedly arrived by truck at a warehouse in Germany, presented forged transport documents, and received a shipment of 171 electric bicycles, which were subsequently not delivered to the recipient. The value of the goods was estimated at approximately €127,000.

Karchuk himself and his defense denied any involvement in this incident. CEO Club Ukraine maintained that at the alleged time of the crime he was in Ukraine. As proof, official border crossing records, mobile operator data, payment and delivery information, correspondence, photographs, and testimonies from people who met with him during that period were cited.

Representatives of the business community suggested that Karchuk's personal data could have been used by third parties in a fraudulent scheme related to freight transportation. How his data ended up in the German investigation materials was not publicly reported.

After the detention, Ukrainian diplomats also became involved. Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously confirmed that the Consulate General in Lublin had contacted Polish authorities to obtain consular access to Karchuk.
