Police show the moment of the accident with Ostrovsky and the UAF director in Kyiv
The Kyiv police released a video of an accident involving two BMW vehicles that occurred on August 17 on Velyka Vasylkivska Street in the capital's Holosiivskyi district. Former so-called "watcher" of the Lukyanivka detention center Kyrylo Ostrovsky and the Ukrainian Football Association's football development department director Bohdan Gorodnyuk were involved in the crash.
According to preliminary police data, the 36-year-old driver of a BMW X3 was pulling out of a secondary road onto Velyka Vasylkivska and failed to comply with the requirements of "Give way" and "Keep right" signs. As a result, his car collided with a BMW X7 driven by a 31-year-old man.
After the impact, the BMW X3 lost control, flew onto a summer terrace of a catering establishment and flipped over. The published police footage shows the actual moment of the accident. No patrons or passers-by were injured.
The 36-year-old BMW X3 driver sustained injuries. He was hospitalized, and the police describe his condition as satisfactory. They intend to test him for intoxication. Meanwhile, the 31-year-old BMW X7 driver was sober, the police found.
Bohdan Gorodnyuk was born in May 1990 and is 36 years old. He is currently the director of the football development department of the UAF. Thus, the age of the participants corresponds to the police data about a 36-year-old BMW X3 driver and a 31-year-old BMW X7 driver. However, in their official report, the police do not name the accident participants.
Kyrylo Ostrovsky previously became known after a fatal accident 2018 in Kyiv. While driving a Hummer, he struck a 10-year-old girl at a pedestrian crossing. In August 2022, the court sentenced him to four years and six months in prison. While in Kyiv detention center, the media and law enforcement agencies associated Ostrovsky with the status of the so-called "watcher" over the institution.
The police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the current accident. After all circumstances are established, the event will receive proper legal qualification.
