Movement rules during curfew changed in Odesa region

Restrictions on vehicle movement during curfew have been changed in Odesa region. Transit on state highways to four international border crossing points is now permitted.

Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, reported this on August 17.

The decision concerns routes to the border crossing points "Palanca – Mayaky – Udobne", "Starokozache – Tudora", "Orlivka – Isaccea", and "Reni – Giurgiulești".

Thus, vehicles transiting to the border with Moldova and Romania will be able to move on certain state highways during the curfew period. Previously, movement in the region at night without grounds provided by rules and special permits was prohibited. The curfew in the region is in effect from 00:00 to 05:00.

The changes are especially important for international passenger and freight transportation through the south of Odesa region. "Palanca", "Starokozache", and "Reni" provide connections with Moldova, and the ferry crossing "Orlivka" with Romania. Significant international traffic flows pass along these routes.

At the same time, the decision does not mean the cancellation of the curfew in Odesa region. The exception applies specifically to transit movement on certain routes to the border crossing points. For other trips, the general curfew restrictions continue to apply.

Previously, certain freight transportations at night in Odesa region required obtaining passes in advance from the regional military administration. The OVA explained such a procedure by the need to coordinate logistics and traffic safety under martial law.
