Zelensky appoints new commander of military logistics of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Colonel Yuriy Pogrebnoy as Commander of the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The relevant decree No. 731/2026 was signed by the head of state on August 17.

Previously, since late July, Pogrebnoy had been acting commander of the Logistics Forces. In this post, he replaced Major General Volodymyr Karpenko, who was appointed commander in February 2024.

Pogrebnoy is 41 years old, originally from Sumy region. In 2016, he became deputy commander of the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade for armaments, and in 2020 he headed the 532nd Separate Repair and Restoration Regiment, which was engaged in support in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia directions.

In 2024, Pogrebnoy was appointed chief of armaments — deputy chief for logistics of the "East" operational command. Subsequently, he headed the logistics of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In this position, Pogrebnoy participated in the digitalization of military logistics. In May 2025, the Ministry of Defense and the Ground Forces began a pilot implementation of the TMS transport management system based on SAP. It should automate the route of military cargo from the unit's request to delivery and increase the efficiency of transport use. According to preliminary estimates of the Ministry of Defense, the system allows to reduce delivery time several times and reduce fuel consumption by approximately 15%.

The Logistics Forces are a separate branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and are subordinate to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. The command is responsible for organizing logistics support for the army; its structure is built on principles compatible with the logistics systems of NATO countries.
