Anthropic showed sharp revenue growth thanks to AI demand
Anthropic, developer of AI assistant Claude, sharply increased revenue amid growing demand for artificial intelligence from companies and developers. The company's preliminary revenue in the second quarter of 2026 exceeded $11.5 billion — about 14 times more than a year earlier.
Bloomberg reports this with reference to documents presented to potential investors. A year ago, Anthropic's quarterly revenue was about $0.8 billion.
The figure was higher than the company's own previous expectations. As recently as spring, Anthropic expected to receive about $10.9 billion in revenue in the second quarter. Thus, the actual preliminary figure exceeded the forecast by about $600 million.
The rapid growth of the business is primarily linked to the spread of Claude among corporate clients and developers. The company is actively developing Claude Code — a tool for programming with artificial intelligence, and also sells access to its models via API and corporate subscriptions.
As recently as the end of 2025, Anthropic's annual revenue run-rate was about $9 billion. In April 2026, the run-rate exceeded $30 billion, and in May the company already reported more than $47 billion. Run-rate is not actual annual revenue received: it shows what sales volume the company would have achieved in a year if the current pace were maintained.
Anthropic also reported that the number of corporate clients that spend more than $1 million per year on its products exceeded a thousand. The company attributes the growth in demand to the spread of Claude in software development and the introduction of AI into the daily processes of large companies.
In May, Anthropic raised $65 billion in a new investment round. As a result, the company received a valuation of $965 billion, becoming one of the most expensive private technology companies in the world.
The growth in financial indicators occurs on the eve of a possible public listing by Anthropic. The company has already confidentially filed documents for an IPO and is holding meetings with potential investors. According to Bloomberg, the listing could take place as early as autumn 2026, although final timing has not yet been determined.
The rapid growth of Anthropic shows the scale of corporate demand for generative AI, but at the same time increases the company's need for expensive computing power. To expand infrastructure, the developer of Claude is concluding multi-billion-dollar agreements with the largest providers of cloud services and equipment manufacturers.
