Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled dozens of attacks on Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka directions
Since the beginning of August 17, 211 combat engagements have occurred on the front. The most intense fighting continued on the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka directions.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a summary as of 22:00.
Russian troops carried out 64 airstrikes over the day, using 212 guided aerial bombs. In addition, the enemy employed 6,170 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,034 shellings of Ukrainian military positions and populated areas.
On the Pokrovsk direction, Russian troops attempted to advance 27 times in the areas of Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, as well as in the direction of Novyi Donbas, Hannivka, Shevchenko, Bilytske, Novohryshyne, Myrne, Vasylivka, and Serhiivka. As of 22:00, one battle was ongoing.
According to preliminary data from the General Staff, on this sector Ukrainian forces eliminated 41 Russian servicemen over the day, with another 16 wounded. Also destroyed were an artillery system, a vehicle, two ammunition depots, and 26 personnel shelters. In addition, 400 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types were destroyed or suppressed.
On the Kostiantynivka direction, the Defense Forces repelled 23 assaults in the areas of Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Novoselivka, and Sofiyivka, as well as in the direction of Vilne, Kucheriv Yar, and Novopavlivka. Three combat engagements were ongoing.
On the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian forces stopped 12 attempts by the enemy to advance, with four more battles ongoing. On the Siversk-Sloboda and Kursk directions, eight combat engagements occurred, seven on the Huliaipole direction, and five on the Kupiansk direction.
On the Siversk-Sloboda direction, Russian troops four times stormed the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of Vovchansk and in the direction of Bochkove and Volokhivka. On the Orikhiv direction, two attacks were repelled, and one on the Prydniprovske direction. On other directions, according to the General Staff, no significant changes in the situation occurred.
