In Dnipro, the sole guardian of a 17-year-old orphan was mobilized

In Dnipro, the sole guardian of a 17-year-old orphan girl was mobilized and sent to a training ground. The minor independently went to the territorial recruitment center with documents to explain the situation.

This was reported by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets.

According to the ombudsman, the girl waited for the guardian at home, but the man did not return. Later, he contacted her and said that he was being taken to the TCC. After that, the 17-year-old girl went there on her own with documents confirming that the man is her sole guardian.

By the time of her arrival, the man was no longer at the TCC — he had been sent to the training ground. The minor is currently staying with her grandmother. At the same time, Lubinets noted that the grandmother's actual care of her granddaughter does not give her the status of a legal representative of the child.

The ombudsman emphasized that the situation requires clarification not only of the circumstances of the guardian's mobilization, but also of who should now officially represent the minor's interests and bear responsibility for her.

The representative of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Oleksii Urlatkin, is already investigating the circumstances of the incident. The ombudsman's office sent official requests to the Left Bank Service for Children's Affairs of the Dnipro City Council and the Dnipropetrovsk Regional TCC and SP.

Lubinets also pointed out the problem of informing relatives about the whereabouts of people after their delivery to the TCC, undergoing the military medical commission, and assignment to a military unit.

According to him, government agencies must provide clear answers as to how the rights of the 17-year-old girl were ensured after her sole guardian was sent to the troops. At the time of the ombudsman's statement, the official position of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional TCC on the circumstances of this case had not been made public.
