Russia struck a police station in Zhytomyr, with casualties reported

Russian troops attacked Zhytomyr with jet drones on the afternoon of August 19. One of the strikes hit the building of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Zhytomyr Oblast. Two police officers were killed and at least 20 people were injured in the attack.

The head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, Vitaliy Bunechko, was the first to report the hit. He said the city came under attack by jet drones, and rescuers from the State Emergency Service, emergency medical teams, and other special services are working at the strike site. Initially, information about casualties and injuries was being verified.

Later, the National Police reported that Russian forces used "Banderol"-type drones. Acting Head of the National Police Maksym Tsutskiridze confirmed the death of two police officers and reported at least 20 injured.

As a result of the hit, a fire broke out on the roof and fourth floor of the regional police headquarters. Police, rescuers, and other emergency services continue to work at the scene. Law enforcement officers are assisting the injured and documenting the consequences of the Russian attack.

The head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration urged residents not to post photos and videos from the strike site and to rely only on information from official sources. Information about the aftermath of the attack continues to be updated.
