In Donetsk region, all children have been evacuated from 19 frontline communities

About 11 thousand civilians remain in 19 communities of Donetsk Oblast, which are classified as the active combat zone. There are no children among them anymore — the last two were evacuated on August 15 from Mykolaivka, reported Dmytro Petlin, representative of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, during a briefing.

In total, about 108.4 thousand civilians now live in the Ukrainian-controlled territory of Donetsk Oblast, including approximately 5.5 thousand children. Since early August, about 9.4 thousand people, including 740 children, have been evacuated or left the region on their own.

Evacuation of families with children continues

Meanwhile, the evacuation of children from other dangerous areas of the region is not yet complete. According to the Regional Military Administration, forced evacuation of families with children is currently in effect in seven settlements, where 503 children remain. Of these, 460 are in certain neighborhoods of Kramatorsk and Kramatorsk community, for which a separate mandatory evacuation regime has been introduced.

Thus, we are talking about different categories of territories: from the 19 communities officially classified as the active combat zone, all children have already been taken out, but in settlements where forced evacuation of families is in effect, children still remain.

Since the beginning of August alone, 169 children have been evacuated with their parents or legal representatives from settlements under forced evacuation. In total, since the introduction of this mechanism, more than 21 thousand children have been evacuated from dangerous areas of Donetsk region.

Evacuated residents continue to be housed free of charge in safer regions of Ukraine. Since early August, 279 people, including 104 people with reduced mobility and 41 children, have been transported and accommodated through transit points. Up to 300 evacuees from Donetsk Oblast pass through the transit center in Kharkiv Oblast daily.

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, more than 1.425 million people, including over 213 thousand children, have left the Ukrainian-controlled part of Donetsk Oblast. Mandatory evacuation of the civilian population in the region has been in effect since August 2022.
