Ukrainian woman to be expelled from Poland after incident with police officer

In the Polish town of Zambrów, a 39-year-old citizen of Ukraine has been ordered to be expelled from the country after she bit a police officer during a police intervention. The injured officer was taken to an infectious disease hospital, where he received medical care.

The incident occurred on Monday, August 17. Police received a report about a woman lying on the sidewalk who did not respond to attempts to make contact with her. The officers who arrived at the scene found that the 39-year-old citizen of Ukraine was under the influence of alcohol. According to police, she began shouting and insulting the officers.

Medical personnel were called to the scene. They decided that the woman did not require hospitalization, after which the police intended to take her to a detention facility, where she was to sober up.

While handcuffs were being put on her, the woman became aggressive. When she was being placed into a police vehicle, she bit one of the officers. The police officer was then taken to an infectious disease hospital.

After the Ukrainian woman sobered up, she was charged with insulting public officials in the performance of their duties and violating the bodily integrity of a police officer. According to police, these crimes are punishable by up to three years in prison.

The police in Zambrów also requested the Border Guard to expel the woman from Poland. After the necessary procedural actions were completed, she was handed over to Border Guard officers in Białystok.

A spokesperson for the Podlaskie Border Guard Unit, Katarzyna Zdanowicz, told Polsat News that a decision has already been made requiring the 39-year-old Ukrainian to return to her country of origin. The decision is being executed. Additionally, the woman has been banned from entering Poland for five years.
