For Friday, August 21, the National Bank set the following official exchange rates: - US dollar – 44.6144 UAH (-0.0862 UAH to the official rate for Thursday, August 20); - euro – 52.1301 UAH (+0.2622 UAH to the official rate for Thursday, August 20).
Rates are set at 16:00 on August 20 and reflect the following trends:
1. Today, after the start of trading on the interbank foreign exchange market, an imbalance in supply and demand was felt. The National Bank was forced to intervene shortly before 11:00 to settle the situation. If before the NBU entered, trading was in the range of 44.65-44.69 UAH, then after the regulator's intervention quotes fell to 44.57 UAH on the "bid" position. The average deal price at 12:00 was 44.6581 UAH – 8 kopecks lower than on Wednesday. By the close of trading, it decreased even more, so the National Bank lowered the official dollar exchange rate for Friday by 8.6 kopecks.
2. The euro on the international FOREX market continued its growth that began yesterday and rose to 1.1710 dollars. At the time of fixing, the euro was sold at 1.16846 dollars – 81.2 points higher than on Wednesday (1.16034 dollars). Therefore, despite the decline in the official dollar rate, the NBU raised the official euro exchange rate for tomorrow by 26.2 kopecks.
On the cash market today, there were minor fluctuations in price tags depending on the region: in Dnipro, the dollar rose by 2 kopecks over the day, in Lviv – it fell by 2 kopecks, and in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odesa, the price did not change over the day.
Analysts of the portal "Course of Ukraine" continue to assert that until the end of August one can not be afraid of significant fluctuations in the cash foreign exchange market. Further growth of the dollar exchange rate is possible already in September.
