General Staff names the hottest front-line areas on August 20

Since the start of the day on August 20, 195 combat clashes have occurred on the front. The most intense fighting was recorded on the Konstantinovka and Pokrovsk directions, where Russian troops launched 18 attacks each.

The reported General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in an operational update as of 22:00.

According to the Ukrainian command, over the day Russian troops launched one missile strike and 55 airstrikes, used missiles with ballistic trajectory, as well as 44 cruise and air-launched missiles of various basing. In addition, the enemy dropped 157 guided aerial bombs, employed 6,634 kamikaze drones for strikes, and carried out 2,151 shellings of positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas.

On the Konstantinovka direction, the Defense Forces repelled 18 assaults in the areas of Konstantinovka, Ivanopillya, Ilyinovka, Novoselivka and towards Stepanovka. At the time of the publication of the update, one combat clash was ongoing.

Another 18 attacks were launched by Russian troops on the Pokrovsk direction. According to preliminary information from the General Staff, Ukrainian soldiers eliminated 49 Russian servicemen there during the day, and 12 more were wounded. Also reported is the destruction of equipment, an artillery system, an electronic warfare asset, UAV control points, and ammunition depots.

On the Slavyansk direction, Ukrainian units halted 11 enemy advances, and one more battle was ongoing. On the Kupyansk direction, nine attacks were recorded, on the Gulyaypole direction — eight, two of which had not yet ended at the time of the update.

On the Liman direction, the Defense Forces repelled five attempts to advance by Russian troops, on the South Slobozhansky direction — three. Another two attacks were halted on the Orekhov direction.

On the Aleksandrovsk and Pridneprovsk directions, no offensive actions by Russian troops were recorded by the General Staff during the day. On other sectors of the front, no significant changes in the situation occurred.
