EU ambassadors met with heads of NABU and SAPO in Kyiv

Ambassadors and representatives of European Union member states in Ukraine met on August 21 with the Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, Semen Kryvonos, and the Head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, Oleksandr Klymenko.

This was reported by the European Union Delegation to Ukraine on the social network X.

The meeting took place against the background of intensified major investigations by NABU and SAPO and increased attention from European partners to the work of Ukraine's anti-corruption system. The EU Delegation did not disclose other details of the talks in the published statement.

On August 19, NABU announced a new joint special operation with SAPO to expose a criminal organization that, according to investigators, operated under the leadership of current and former members of parliament with the participation of senior officials of the Presidential Office and other individuals.

In the following days, anti-corruption bodies released additional investigation materials and carried out procedural actions regarding those involved.

The work of NABU and SAPO remains one of the important issues in Ukraine's relations with the European Union. Brussels has repeatedly emphasized the need to preserve the independence and effectiveness of anti-corruption institutions as part of reforms related to Ukraine's EU accession process.
