For Monday, August 25, the National Bank set the following official exchange rates: - US dollar – 44.6590 UAH (+0.0446 UAH against the official rate on Friday, August 21); - euro – 52.2492 UAH (+0.1191 UAH against the official rate on Friday, August 21).

Rates were set at 16:00 on August 21 and reflect the following trends:

1. The entire trading session on Friday at the interbank currency market was held in a narrow range of 44.64-44.685 UAH with active participation of the National Bank, which began conducting interventions shortly after the start of trading and remained in the market almost until the close. The average price of trades at 12:00 was 44.6532 UAH – 0.5 kopiyka lower than on Thursday. By the close of trading, it rose slightly. Therefore, for Monday the National Bank raised the official dollar rate by 4.5 kopiykas.

2. The euro on the international FOREX market today tried to continue the growth that began the day before yesterday, but managed to rise only to 1.1711 dollars (1 point higher than yesterday's daily high). At the time of fixing, the euro was sold at 1.16996 dollars – 15 points higher than on Thursday (1.16846 dollars). Therefore, despite the decrease in the official dollar rate, the NBU raised the official euro rate for tomorrow by 26.2 kopiykas.

On the cash market today, prices went up again. In Kyiv and Dnipro, the dollar rose by 8 kopiykas over the day, in Kharkiv and Lviv – by 6 kopiykas, in Odesa – by 5 kopiykas. According to analysts of the "Kurs Ukrainy" portal, one of the reasons for the growth is the long weekend: banks will be closed, so those who wanted to convert hryvnia into hard currency rushed to do it today, which triggered an increase in demand with a stable supply of cash currency.
