Zelensky promised a response to the strike on a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih
The death toll from the Russian strike on a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih has risen to 14. More than 100 people were injured. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the attack targeted and said Russia will receive a response.
Zelensky reported the updated aftermath of the attack on the evening of August 21 in his Telegram channel.
“It was a targeted and despicable strike,” — the president said, commenting on the attack on a civilian object.
According to him, 14 people were killed as a result of the Russian strike, the number of wounded exceeded 100.
Zelensky stressed that the Russian military knew the nature of the target they were striking. The president promised retaliatory actions by Ukraine.
“Simply scum. And we will definitely respond,” — he said.
Russian troops attacked the shopping center in Kryvyi Rih on the afternoon of August 21. It is the “Sonyachna Halereya” shopping and entertainment center, one of the largest shopping facilities in the city. At the time of the attack, a large number of visitors were inside.
According to available information, the shopping center was attacked by strike drones twice. About half an hour passed between the strikes. The second strike was delivered when rescuers and other emergency services were already working at the site of the first hit.
Casualty figures changed several times during the day as the search and rescue operation progressed. Initially, several dead and dozens injured were reported; later their number increased sharply.
Earlier, Zelensky published photos of the aftermath of the attack and reported that there were children among the wounded.
