Russia intensified attacks on Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka directions
As of 22:00 on August 21, 172 combat engagements occurred on the front. The most intense fighting continued in the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka directions, where Russian troops conducted 23 and 20 attacks respectively.
This is stated in the evening report of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
During the day, Russian troops carried out 75 airstrikes using 219 guided aerial bombs, used 6,751 kamikaze drones for attacks, and fired 1,939 times at Ukrainian positions and settlements.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the occupiers attempted 23 times to advance in the areas of Belitske, Udachne, Muravka, Novopidhorodne, as well as towards Annivka, Novyi Donbas, Svitloho, Shevchenko, Vasylivka, and Serhiivka. At the time of publication of the report, two more combat engagements were ongoing.
According to preliminary data from the General Staff, 35 Russian servicemen were eliminated in this direction alone during the day, and another 14 were wounded. Ukrainian forces also destroyed a tank, six vehicles, three artillery systems, a fuel and lubricants depot, and an ammunition depot.
In addition, 416 Russian drones of various types were destroyed or suppressed in the Pokrovsk direction.
Where else active fighting continued
In the Kostiantynivka direction, the Defense Forces repelled 20 Russian assaults in the areas of Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Novoselivka, Novomykolaivka, Shakhove, Sofiivka, Vilne, and towards Dovha Balka. One combat engagement was ongoing.
In the South Sloboda direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions 11 times towards Izbytske, Radkivka, Kovaliivka, Okhrymivka, and Mytrofanivka. Two assaults were still ongoing as of the evening report.
In the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian forces stopped eight attempts by the enemy to advance in the areas of Kryva Luka, Pyskunivka, and Mykolaivka. In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian troops conducted four offensive operations.
Another four attacks were recorded in the Lyman direction, three in the Oleksandrivka and three in the Huliapole directions. In the Orikhiv direction, the Defense Forces repelled two attempts by Russian troops to advance.
Meanwhile, in the Kupiansk and Pridniprovske directions, Russian troops did not conduct offensive actions during the day. Four combat engagements occurred in the North Sloboda and Kursk directions.
The General Staff noted that no significant changes in the situation occurred in other directions as of the evening of August 21.
