Tusk congratulated Ukraine and reminded of the price of independence

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk congratulated Ukraine on the 35th anniversary of the declaration of independence and assured the solidarity of the Polish people with Ukrainians who continue to fight against Russian aggression.

The head of the Polish government published the corresponding statement on August 24 on social network X.

“We, Poles, know what it means to pay the highest price for independence. We know what the words ‘For your and our freedom’ mean. That is why the Polish people today, on Ukraine's Independence Day, are with the fighting Ukrainian people wholeheartedly,” — Tusk stated.

Ukraine celebrates the 35th anniversary of independence on August 24. On this day in 1991, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine. Later, the decision was supported in an all-Ukrainian referendum on December 1.

Poland was the first state to officially recognize Ukraine's independence after the referendum. Warsaw announced this on December 2, 1991.
