Ukraine and Britain sign agreement in the field of artificial intelligence
On 24 August, an agreement in the field of artificial intelligence was signed between the United Kingdom and Ukraine, under which both countries will join forces to develop new military capabilities and technologies of the future, according to Європейська правда.
The British government calls the agreement historic and claims that it is key within the framework of the hundred-year partnership between our countries.
"By combining the world-leading British artificial intelligence ecosystem with Ukraine's operational experience, engineering talent, and technological innovation, the new agreement, signed today in Ukraine by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Andy Burnham, will provide access to Ukraine's valuable Avengers AI Labs database", – the statement said.
This platform provides real data and analytics for training artificial intelligence models, collected by thousands of daytime cameras and infrared sensors across the battlefield in Ukraine.
These sensors and cameras record millions of objects, such as tanks, artillery, air defense systems, infantry, and aerial targets, including Shahed drones and reconnaissance UAVs, transmitting data to the Avengers Lab for training new artificial intelligence models.
As part of this partnership, the United Kingdom and Ukraine will also explore other platforms for cooperation.
"Avengers AI Labs, a true treasure trove of battlefield data, will provide British innovators and researchers with unprecedented access to real operational data and the opportunity to 'plug in and work'", – the British government noted.
In turn, the United Kingdom will provide Ukraine with support in the form of world-leading universities, researchers, technology companies, and the third-largest artificial intelligence ecosystem in the world, which will allow Ukraine to leverage British experience to accelerate the development of solutions to pressing problems, while simultaneously turning hard-won combat experience and unique datasets into technologies that will bring long-term benefits to both countries.
"This revolutionary partnership will combine Ukraine's unparalleled combat experience with the UK's world-class artificial intelligence ecosystem, giving us the opportunity to develop the technologies of the future that will change lives here in the UK and save lives on the battlefield in Ukraine", – said Andy Burnham.
As part of the agreement, several pilot projects were launched with the participation of three British startups: Sintela from Bristol, Mind Foundry from Oxford, and Skyral from London.
"By combining the UK's world-leading scientists, engineers, and technology companies with Ukraine's unique combat experience and data, we will strengthen the defense and security of both our countries", – said UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting.
Prime Minister Andy Burnham, during his visit to Kyiv, stated that London has decided to share Storm Shadow production technology with Ukraine.
The Prime Minister, during the 'coalition of the willing' meeting, assured Ukraine of support and also emphasized that the UK will not allow Russia to intimidate it.
