In Kyiv, a veteran got into a fight with police after a traffic stop

In Kyiv on Harmatna Street, a conflict occurred between patrol officers and a car driver who, according to police, violated traffic rules and failed to comply with a stop order. While clarifying the circumstances, the man punched a police officer in the face.

This was reported by the head of the Patrol Police Department, Oleksii Biloshytskyi. The participants in the conflict were veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; one of the men had a prosthetic leg.

According to the patrol police, the crew spotted a Honda car moving in a public transport lane. The driver was given a stop order, but he ignored it, after which the patrol officers began a pursuit.

The car was stopped on Harmatna Street. As Biloshytskyi claims, during the conversation the driver and passenger behaved aggressively and used profanity towards the law enforcement officers.

Subsequently, the verbal conflict escalated into a physical confrontation. According to police, the driver punched one of the patrol officers in the face.

Biloshytskyi also drew attention to a video fragment from the scene circulating on social media. According to him, that clip shows only part of the conflict and does not include the events that preceded it. The head of the patrol police published footage from the police officer's body camera, which, according to him, recorded the development of the situation from the moment the car was stopped.

Biloshytskyi emphasized that he understands the condition of people returning from war with injuries, but in his opinion, this cannot justify a physical assault on police officers while they are performing their official duties.
