Massive forest fire extinguished near Kyiv: significant forces deployed

Elimination of a massive forest fire continues in Vyshhorod district of Kyiv Oblast. The fire engulfed the forest floor in Bohdaniv forestry near the village of Bohdany.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Rescuers' work is complicated by hot weather and strong winds. Such conditions contribute to the rapid spread of fire across the forest area.

Significant forces were deployed to fight the fire. Rescuers from Kyiv Oblast and Kyiv city are working on site, as well as units from other regions of the country. Employees of the state enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" also joined the extinguishing efforts.

As of the evening of August 24, fire extinguishing was ongoing. DSNS has not yet reported on the area covered by fire or the causes of ignition. No information on casualties has been received either.

The situation is complicated by a high level of fire danger in the region. On August 25, an extreme level of fire danger was declared in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast due to dry and hot weather.

During the period of martial law, visiting forests and forest-park areas of Kyiv Oblast is restricted. Rescuers also urge residents not to light fires in open areas and not to burn dry vegetation.
