Defense Forces liberate 7.5 sq km in Kupyansk direction

The Defense Forces of Ukraine have regained control over a section of territory in the Kupyansk district of Kharkiv region. Fighters of the 2nd Corps of the National Guard "Khartiia" have liberated about 7.5 sq km of territory in the area of Zakhidne and Dvorichna from Russian troops.

This was reported on August 25 by the Khartiia Corps and the DeepState analytical project.

The operation was carried out by servicemen of the 23rd Separate Assault Regiment R.U.G, which is part of the Khartiia Corps. Ukrainian units have cleared a forest area southwest of Dvorichna and regained control over part of the territory previously occupied by Russian troops.

Khartiia reported that as a result of the operation, 7.5 sq km of Ukrainian territory has been liberated. In addition, the Defense Forces have taken control of the northern part of the settlement of Zakhidne.

"During the operation in the Dvorichna district, foreign servicemen of the R.U.G of the Khartiia Corps cleared a section of terrain southwest of Dvorichna and took control of the northern part of the settlement of Zakhidne," the military reported.

DeepState analysts separately confirmed the change in the situation on this section of the front. On the updated map of the project, the territory near Zakhidne is again marked as being under the control of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

Zakhidne is located west of Dvorichna in the Kupyansk district. Russian troops had been trying for a long time to expand their zone of control in this area and advance towards Kupyansk.

Thus, the current operation has allowed Ukrainian units not only to clear a significant area of terrain from the presence of Russian forces, but also to improve positions in the area between Zakhidne and the Dvorichna district.

At the same time, the situation in the Kupyansk direction remains tense. Russian troops continue offensive actions in Kharkiv region, while Ukrainian units simultaneously hold defense and carry out counterattacks in certain areas.
