Finnish president urged Ukraine to prepare for the worst-case scenario in winter

President of Finland Alexander Stubb stated that it is important for Ukraine to be ready for the "worst" scenario regarding what the situation will be like in winter, according to Європейська правда.

Stubb was reminded that Ukraine is now preparing, according to forecasts, for a harsh winter, and was also asked whether this matches his expectations regarding the future situation.

"I also believe that it is important to count on the worst-case scenario and be ready for it", – the Finnish president replied.

At the same time, he emphasized that the Ukrainian offensive has been "very strong for about 8–9 months now", and also noted that every month the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroy "about 30–35 thousand military personnel". In addition, he mentioned long-range strikes.

"All this indicates that Ukraine is acting much more successfully than before. But this does not mean that there will be no winter", – he said.

Stubb stressed that Finland is actively working to ensure that Ukraine has enough energy resources, diesel generators, in particular from the Finnish manufacturer Wärtsilä.

"Indeed, we must prepare for the worst. This is necessary", – he added.

Recently it became known that Finland is preparing the next air defense package, which will include some of the most important needs of Ukraine.

It was also reported that the Swedish government has decided to allocate a new aid package to Ukraine worth almost 1.5 billion kronor (about 140 million euros) for 2026 to support the energy sector before winter.
