Drones attacked Ozon warehouses in Ufa and Orenburg, smoke rose over a large refinery (Updated)
On the night of August 27, drones attacked several large industrial and logistics facilities in Russia at once. Ozon confirmed attacks on its complexes in Ufa and Orenburg, with the facility in Ufa sustaining damage and being temporarily closed. Additionally, after explosions in Ufa, smoke was recorded over the territory of the "Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim" oil refinery, and in Sterlitamak - likely over the "Bashkir Soda Company".
The attack was reported by Astra and Ozon itself.
In Bashkortostan, local residents reported explosions and drone flights during the night, particularly in the Sterlitamak area. Due to the threat of attack, Ufa airport's operations were also temporarily restricted.
Later, OSINT analyst Astra, based on eyewitness photos, determined that smoke likely rose over the territory of JSC "Bashkir Soda Company" in Sterlitamak. At the time of publication, local authorities had not commented on the consequences of the attack on the enterprise, so a direct hit on the plant is currently unconfirmed.
The company also works for the defense industry
"Bashkir Soda Company" is one of Russia's largest chemical complexes and is part of the "Roshim" holding. According to Astra, the enterprise ranks first in the Russian Federation in the production of soda ash and baking soda, as well as polyvinyl chloride.
The company produces, in particular, hydrochloric acid and dichloroethane. In addition, it is the only producer in Russia of terephthaloyl chloride - a substance used in the manufacture of high-strength materials, including armor materials.
As Astra notes, the enterprise is included in the closed register of organizations of the military-industrial complex of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, which was previously published by the Dossier Center.
Emergencies have occurred at the enterprise before. In March 2026, residents of Sterlitamak reported a fire on the company's territory, and in August 2025, an explosion of a gas-air mixture occurred at its "Kaustik" site. At least 38 people were injured then.
Smoke was recorded over a major refinery in Ufa
After the drone attack, smoke rose over the territory of the "Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim" oil refinery in Ufa. The location of the smoke was determined from eyewitness photos by OSINT analyst Astra.
At the moment, there is no official information about a direct hit, the nature of the damage, or a production stoppage at the enterprise.
"Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim" is part of the "Bashneft" structure, owned by "Rosneft", and is one of the largest oil refining enterprises in the Ufa industrial hub.
The plant produces motor fuels, lubricants, aromatic hydrocarbons, and other petrochemical products. According to Astra, the enterprise also has significance for the Russian military-industrial complex, particularly through the supply of specialized fuels and petrochemical raw materials.
In the northern industrial zone of Ufa, three large refineries are actually located close together: "Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim", "Bashneft-Novoil" and "Bashneft-UNPZ". Together they form the Ufa oil refining complex with a total capacity of about 23.5 million tons of raw materials per year.
"Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim" has been attacked by drones before. After a strike on August 1, a fire broke out on the territory of the enterprise.
Thus, during the attack on August 27, reports of consequences are coming from several major industrial and logistics facilities in Bashkortostan at once. In addition to the refinery in Ufa, Astra, based on eyewitness photos, had earlier determined that smoke in Sterlitamak likely rose over the territory of "Bashkir Soda Company" - one of Russia's largest chemical complexes.
Ozon warehouses damaged in Orenburg
Ozon also confirmed an attack on its logistics complex in Ufa. The facility sustained damage and was temporarily closed for inspection.
Later, Ozon confirmed that its logistics complex in Ufa came under attack. According to the company, employees were evacuated promptly, and there is no information about casualties.

Initially, the company reported that there were no serious consequences for its operations. Later, Ozon clarified that as a result of the attack, a fire broke out on the territory of the complex, which was extinguished by employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Over 300 employees were evacuated from the warehouse, and according to preliminary information, there were no casualties. After the attack, Ozon temporarily suspended accepting shipments at the facility, and some orders will be cancelled or redirected from other warehouses.
The company stated that overall its logistics network continues to operate.
Fire reported at warehouse in Bashkortostan
Monitoring channel Exilenova+ published photos in the morning and reported a fire at an Ozon warehouse in Blagoveshchensk in Bashkortostan after hits.
At the same time, in its first official statement, Ozon claimed that no fire occurred at its facility near Ufa and that the damage was minor. Therefore, information about a large-scale fire at this particular complex is currently not officially confirmed.
Russia claimed 267 downed drones
The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that during the night, Russian air defense allegedly intercepted and destroyed 267 aircraft-type drones.
According to the Russian agency, drones were recorded over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov, Samara, Saratov, and Ulyanovsk regions, Krasnodar Krai, and Bashkortostan, as well as over occupied Crimea, the Sea of Azov, and the Black Sea.
