Budanov warned about the risk of split due to elections during war

Head of the Presidential Office Kirill Budanov believes that the current political situation in Ukraine represents tension, but not yet a crisis; he called not to allow internal split and to postpone elections until post-war period, according to Українська правда.

He said this in an interview broadcast on Friday on the single telethon.

"Elections during the war, apart from technical problems, carry a serious threat... Elections during the war put their results under certain question. Because normally not everyone can vote (questions start to arise: someone voted, someone could not, and how many of those who could not, etc.).

And this creates ground in conditions of not quite unified society for, for example, a separately taken region could simply say: "Sorry, we are for Ukraine, but we do not recognize all this, and until everything is settled, we will remain an autonomy". This is the path to split of the state".

The Head of the Presidential Office reminded about the events of 1918, when Ukrainians "lost the state in an instant".

Budanov tends to consider current events in Ukraine not "a crisis" but "tension".

Budanov called on all parties of the confrontation — "to calm down a bit and look at the situation in Ukraine more widely", adding that there is always a way out.

According to the Head of the Presidential Office, the war must be ended, and then all reboot processes should be organized.
